Happy #GivingTuesday! What’s that? Well, it’s like Black Friday or Cyber Monday… except instead of a day of getting stuff, it’s a day of giving back. Now in its fifth year, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources, according to its website. We’d be honored to be part of your giving this Christmas, or even just tucked away as a future resource. Here are 5 ways you can help, and most won’t cost you anything at all:
  1. Collect Christmas gifts. We’re collecting children’s snow pants and boots, as well as money for treats, to give as gifts at this year’s Pine Point Christmas party, as our friends at Pine Point School said that’s what is needed most. Email HFtFN President Emily Miller at emily@hftfn.org if you or your church or another group is interested in contributing, and we’ll find a way to get your gifts up to the reservation.
  2. Use Amazon Smile. Do you do any of your shopping (OK, all of your shopping…) on Amazon? You can help Hope for the First Nations automatically every time you make a purchase on Amazon just by signing up for AmazonSmile, at no cost to you. It only takes a minute to set up, and we’ve created step-by-step instructions for you.
  3. Sign up. Unable to give right now? Want to learn more about us before you feel comfortable giving? We totally understand. Sign up to get our newsletter via email and/or snail mail for updates about our work and needs as they arise.
  4. Donate financial support. Donations are needed year-round to keep us operational as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provide training and curriculum for our volunteers and support our partners holding Hope camps and other community projects we’re invited to participate in on the reservation. We are all volunteers, so all of that money goes to the work we do. Donate via PayPal, or find our mailing address and instructions for sending checks, on this page.
  5. Pray. We saved the best and most important for last! We’d be honored if you would pray for our board members and partners, for our friends on the White Earth Reservation and for the wisdom to do things in a good way that honors the people, the land and our Creator in our work on the reservation. (Drop us a note on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter if you do – a kind word goes a long way to strengthen our hands for the work Creator has given us to do!)
Miigwech (thank you) for considering HFtFN this holiday season.
