UPDATE: Thank you for answering the call! Amanda Docter and Tracy Riensche shared that we were collecting homemade face masks to send to the White Earth Nation, and Geory Sikkink and Janeanne Severson of Living Life Reformed Church in Firth, Nebraska, made all 38 of these masks. We’ve heard from Tammy Edmonson Bumgarner and her mom that some masks are on their way from central Illinois, too. Even more have said they’re making masks and planning to help.
Thank you for giving your time, energy and supplies to help meet a need we heard from our friends in White Earth.
🚨 CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS 🚨 White Earth Nation has put out a call for homemade face masks for patients coming in and out of facilities and programs, inpatients and nursing home residents. We have been in touch with the White Earth Emergency Management Team and would love to come alongside them in this way. If you are making masks for your loved ones and communities, would you also consider donating some to our friends in White Earth to help meet this need? If you live in Illinois, Nebraska or elsewhere, you can mail them directly to the White Earth Emergency Management Team instead of sending them to us to distribute (although, in this time of social distancing, we’d love to hear from you and see photos of the masks you’ve made). It might be nice to include a note of encouragement, letting team members know you heard about the need for masks from Hope for the First Nations so they aren’t wondering where all these random masks are coming from.
