It’s already snowing for some of our volunteers across parts of the Midwest.
Which means it’s time for us to start planning this year’s Christmas trip to the White Earth Reservation — and we’d love for you to join us! Every year, the Pine Point Community Council sets aside money to make sure each child in the community wakes up with a gift and a smile on Christmas morning and throws a party that brings together the whole community. Hope for the First Nations is honored to be included in the party every year. You can join us from Thursday, Dec. 19, to Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019. On Friday, we usually help decorate for the community Christmas party, pack gift bags and judge the Pine Point Lights Contest (the highlight of our year!). On Saturday, we usually help serve dinner at the party and assist Santa Claus by taking family photos and giving stuffed animals to every child who visits him. You also can expect Christmas cookies, thunder burgers and nightly Advent devotions. Mostly, we’ll be spending time with our friends on the reservation and celebrating together. All volunteers who have been on a trip to White Earth with one of our teams are welcome to join us. The cost is $300 and does not include getting to and from the reservation, though we can help arrange car pools for participants coming from the same area. Please RSVP on Facebook or contact HFtFN President Emily Miller at emily@hftfn.org by Dec. 6, 2019, if you are interested in coming. If you’re not able to join us in person, let Emily know if you and/or your church still can join our work by donating the following items:- Stuffed animals — we need these most desperately, as we gave away every stuffed animal we had last Christmas!
- Blankets
- Money for this year’s giveaway (stay tuned — we think you’ll like this one!)
