You probably don’t need us to remind you that the season of list-making, gift-buying, budget-stretching, traveling and hosting quickly is approaching.
But we can promise you some fun on our annual Christmas trip to the White Earth Reservation.
Hope for the First Nations is excited to celebrate Christmas with our friends on the reservation from Thursday, Dec. 14, 2018, to Sunday, Dec. 17, 2018. We’ll help pack gift bags Friday and serve dinner at the community Christmas party Saturday at the Old School in Pine Point.
For the last two years, we even have gotten to judge the Pine Point Lights Contest.
You also can expect Christmas cookies and nightly Advent devotions. Mostly, we’ll be spending time with our friends on the reservation and celebrating Christ coming to Earth to be with us.
Most of our board of directors is planning to make this informal trip this year, and all volunteers who have been on a trip to White Earth with one of our teams are welcome to join us. The cost will cover food, lodging and some supplies and gifts and will depend on interest. In the past, that has been about $300 or $350.
Please RSVP on Facebook or contact HFtFN President Emily Miller at emily@hftfn.org by Nov. 15, 2017, if you are interested in coming. And let Emily know if you and/or your church are interested in donating the following items that many of our friends asked for last year:
- Mittens or gloves of all sizes
- Winter hats of all sizes
- Money for treats
